Winter is the perfect time to start prepping for a home spring reboot! When deciding what to update and upgrade, embrace the old and the new with some of these 2019 home renovations trends.
IN: Comfort
From soft carpets to functional bathrooms, homeowners are spending money to get the basics right. Renovate right the first time and only spending the money once. Do it right initially and you will be happy for as long as you are in your home!
OUT: Cherry Cabinets
New and/or painted cabinets in deep blues, grays, and black are dominating both modern and traditional kitchens. Warmth in the kitchen is no longer achieved with traditional cherry cabinets.
IN: Bold, Patterned Backsplashes
Simple monochromatic kitchens have had a long run causing a shift towards using backsplashes to make a bigger impact. People are utilizing bold color and graphic tiles to add pop and punch in their kitchens.
OUT: Eclectic Clutter
When a space has too many things going on it feels chaotic. Homeowners are using home renovations as an opportunity to design a more purposeful and functional space.
IN: Connection to Nature
Natural, organic material like wood floors, stone, daylight, and plant life are helping our busy culture feel more nostalgic for custom and crafted materials. Design an impeccable foundation through the use of timeless materials by using wood and stone throughout your home.
IN: Light wood floors
Light-colored floors are making a comeback thanks to a growing desire for an airier and more open look. These floors reflect more light, hide dust/dirt, and can transition from casual to luxurious without sacrificing comfort.
IN: Warmer and darker countertops
Marble will always be a classic in kitchens, but this year there will be a trend away from stark whites like solid white quartz countertops which look too blunt and commercial. People are wanting warmer based stones instead of whites and greys.
