Remodeling a home requires a clear vision.

In today’s world of instant gratification and convenient online ordering, people have become accustomed to readily available products and free expedited shipping which includes big-ticket appliances.

How do you find a great deal within your budget? And what if the product you want is no longer available?

If you are remodeling your kitchen and/or bathroom, finding the appliances you need for a good deal can help with the burden of a budget. The first necessary thing is to figure out exactly what you need. Many modern appliances have “smart” technology with nifty, but unnecessary features. Do your research to identify what you actually need versus what is truly cost-efficient.

Another way to save money on brand new appliances is to track and compare. Big appliance sellers usually price-match identical items from online retailers. Most big box retailers offer price adjustments policies that qualify a refund if the price drops after purchase.

Find even better deals by shopping during sale seasons. Appliances are usually at prime discounts during Labor Day and Black Friday sales and priced best in September and October when new product rollouts make older models cheaper. Keep in mind there is no functional disadvantage to purchasing an older model as new versions are only different in style and features.

You can also buy an open box or slightly imperfect appliances saving anywhere from 10 to 50 percent. Most of the open-box inventory is available exclusively in store. Ask stores if they have any scratch-and-dent options.

One of the best ways to save on appliances is to look at used appliances on Craigslist or your local used appliance store for a pre-owned version of what you want. Make sure to do your research, so you do not end up paying for a bad appliance.

The best advice for buying appliances is to buy it now! As soon as you see what you want at a good price, make the purchase – it might not be there when you come back.
