Looking to conquer a quick home improvement project when you have some extra time off?

Here are six great ideas for home improvement projects that can be easily completed over a three-day weekend.

Curb Appeal

Reseed any thin or bare areas in the yard and revive flower beds by adding new mulch. Do some basic cleaning and maintenance like power washing the driveway, walkways, porches, patio or decks, as well as the exterior of the home. Complete easy outdoor upgrades like repainting the front door, installing new lighting, adding solar fixtures, or putting in a new mailbox.

Backyard Haven

Update old outdoor furniture with beautiful and cozy pieces. Create a dining area or consider building an outdoor kitchen. If your backyard needs privacy, think about putting up a lattice fence or plant some trees.

Eco-Friendly

Install a smart thermostat that raises and lowers the temperature based on when you are home. Many now can even be controlled by cell phones! Fix leaky faucets, install low-flow showerheads, or replace old toilets for better water efficiency.

Patio

Before you start, make sure to get any necessary approvals or permits. Choose from a variety of pavers or pea gravel to create your desired look. Be sure to build the patio on a level, sturdy base that allows water to drain away from your house.

Fire Pit

Plan out how the finished project will look. The key is to make the whole area look welcoming. Make sure to pick materials that can handle the heat! Check local ordinances and make sure a fire pit is up to code.

New Fixtures or Hardware

New pulls or knobs on cabinets and drawers take cabinetry from dated to modern. New light fixtures can significantly change the feel of a room, or you could swap out an overhead light for a ceiling fan with a light. Switch out old doors for new.
